Overwatch 2 is set to make a grand return to China on February 19, coinciding with the start of Season 15. This relaunch will be a significant event for Chinese players, offering them the chance to catch up on rewards from Seasons 1 through 9 and participate in a host of exciting in-game events. Overwatch 2's return to China comes after a successful technical test from January 8 to 15, where fans got a taste of the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and the six heroes introduced since the Chinese servers shut down during Season 2.
Following the technical test, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller took to Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote) to announce a multi-week celebration titled "Return to China." This event will feature some of the most popular in-game events and rewards that Chinese players have missed over the past two years. Additionally, all Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the game's relaunch, with rewards from Seasons 3 through 9 available through in-game events post-relaunch.
Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?
Season 15 of Overwatch 2 is set to embrace Chinese mythology with special skin bundles. While details are scarce, it remains to be seen whether these skins will be new creations or reimagined existing ones, and if they will be exclusive to China. There's also speculation about whether these skins will tie into a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to how Season 14 drew inspiration from Norse mythology.
Global fans won't have to wait long to learn more about Season 15, which is scheduled to start on February 18, just before Overwatch 2's official relaunch in China. As the new season approaches, more information is expected to be revealed in early February.
In the meantime, Overwatch 2 players worldwide can participate in the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are slated to occur before Season 15 kicks off. While Chinese players might miss out on these events, they can look forward to their own special celebrations when Overwatch 2 relaunches in their region.
