Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues.
Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

On the Atlas map, Ritual Altar nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms or life-draining pools of blood.
To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A circular area will illuminate; remain within this zone to defeat all enemies. Leaving the zone prematurely ends the event without rewards. A map is considered complete only after all its Rituals are successfully completed.
The Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists
Successfully completing Rituals yields "Tribute," a currency used to purchase rewards. One potential reward is "An Audience With The King," a unique currency granting access to The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair.

Use "An Audience With The King" at your Realmgate to challenge the King in the Mists. His mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart; practice is available in Act 1 Cruel difficulty in the Freythorn zone. Victory rewards two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section (bottom right) offering modifiers to enhance rewards, reduce Tribute costs, and increase unique currency drop rates. Each new Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at an increased difficulty.
Notable Ritual Passive Skills:
| Notable Passive Skill | Effect | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Promised Devotion | Ritual Altar skills deal 25% increased damage; Favours require 50% less Tribute, appear 50% sooner | N/A |
| From The Mists | Rituals contain 2 extra enemy packs | N/A |
| Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness, deal 10% more damage; Tribute penalty removed | From The Mists |
| Spreading Darkness | Maps always contain 4 Ritual Altars | N/A |
| Between Two Worlds | Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned) | Spreading Darkness |
| Ominous Portents | Monster waves spawn 25% faster; Favours have a 50% increased chance to contain an Omen | N/A |
| He Approaches | Revived monsters have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance of "An Audience With The King" | Ominous Portents |
| Tempting Offers | Re-roll Favours an extra time; re-rolling costs 25% less Tribute | N/A |
Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" initially, then "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches."
Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours
Ritual completion awards Tribute, exchangeable for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed unlock more Favours, progressing from basic items to rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is a Favour reward.
Omens are exceptionally valuable consumable items that modify the effects of other currencies. Examples include:

- Omen of Sinistral Alchemy
- Omen of Dextral Alchemy
- Omen of Sinistral Coronation
- Omen of Dextral Coronation
- Omen of Refreshment
- Omen of Resurgence
- Omen of Corruption
- Omen of Amelioration
- Omen of Sinistral Exaltation
- Omen of Dextral Exaltation
- Omen of Greater Annulment
- Omen of Whittling
- Omen of Sinistral Erasure
- Omen of Dextral Erasure
- Omen of Sinistral Annulment
- Omen of Dextral Annulment
- Omen of Greater Exaltation
Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop unique items exclusive to the Ritual event.
