The short answer is currently no, not in the traditional sense. Despite this, the existing romance system is incredibly rewarding, justifying the game's price point.

The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system, increasing the maximum relationship level from four hearts to six and adding new heart events for each romanceable NPC. These events, featuring playable cutscenes, unlock at two, four, and six hearts. Future updates are planned to introduce eight- and ten-heart events, though no concrete release dates have been confirmed beyond the anticipated March 2025 update (which will not include higher heart levels or new events).

A Stellar Romance System Despite Limitations

While the delay in full-fledged dating might disappoint some, the current romance system is exceptionally well-executed. The dialogue is rich and realistic, often subtly flirty, and the existing heart events, while potentially interpretable as platonic initially, are ambiguous enough to foster romantic interpretations. The gradual progression of relationships provides a satisfying and rewarding experience.

A significant addition in the last major update was the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event allowing for date-like interactions with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). Currently, a stargazing event with Caldarus is available, though it lacks the full "date" experience seen with other characters. This aspect may change with the March 2025 update, which is slated to introduce Caldarus's full romance storyline.

In conclusion, while official dating mechanics aren't fully implemented, Fields of Mistria provides a compelling romantic experience. The current system offers significant depth and enjoyment, promising an even richer experience with future updates.
