PS5「Death Note: Killer Within」於台灣獲評級

A new Death Note video game, tentatively titled "Death Note: Killer Within," has received a rating from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This suggests an imminent official announcement.

Bandai Namco – A Likely Publisher

The game is speculated to be published by Bandai Namco, a company with a strong track record of adapting popular anime franchises into video games. While details are scarce, the rating itself hints at a forthcoming reveal. This follows June's trademark registrations for the game title by Shueisha, Death Note's publisher, in key territories including Europe, Japan, and the United States. Interestingly, the Taiwanese rating board initially listed the title as "Death Note: Shadow Mission," but subsequent English searches confirmed "Death Note: Killer Within." However, the listing may have since been removed from the website.

A Look Back at Previous Death Note Games

Previous Death Note games, including the 2007 Nintendo DS title "Death Note: Kira Game," primarily focused on a point-and-click, deduction-based gameplay experience, allowing players to assume the roles of Light Yagami (Kira) or L. Sequels like "Death Note: Successor to L" and the spin-off "L the ProLogue to Death Note: Spiraling Trap" followed a similar formula. These titles, however, largely targeted Japanese audiences. "Death Note: Killer Within" could potentially represent the franchise's first major global game launch.

Speculation and Anticipation

The gameplay and storyline of "Death Note: Killer Within" remain undisclosed, fueling fan speculation. Given the series' focus on psychological battles, a suspenseful experience mirroring the anime and manga is anticipated. Whether the game will center on the iconic Light Yagami and L rivalry or introduce new characters and narratives is yet to be seen. The anticipation for this new entry in the Death Note video game universe is high.
