A former employee of Respawn Entertainment disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that the studio has halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in the works for several years, was abruptly stopped without any official explanation provided. Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb reported that this was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. To bring this vision to life, Respawn assembled a unique "experimental team" composed of experts in multiplayer shooter development.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, renowned for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat either as agile pilots or commanding powerful Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the franchise has carved out a niche for itself, thanks to its innovative gameplay that merges parkour with intense team-based battles.
Currently, Respawn is directing its efforts towards other ventures. They are actively working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and are collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe. These projects reflect Respawn's ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences.
