Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular third-person MOBA, has launched its free-to-play open beta on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. Following a successful closed alpha, this open beta release includes a significant content update from Titan Forge Games. Revealed a year ago and built using Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 boasts improved visuals, refined combat mechanics, and a revamped item shop offering greater item variety regardless of god choice. The core gameplay remains true to its predecessor: players choose from a diverse roster of gods from various cultures to engage in 5v5 battles, vying for map control and ultimate victory.
Starting January 14th, players can download Smite 2's open beta for free. This update introduces Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Utilizing his unique abilities, Aladdin can traverse walls and even revive after death thanks to his companion's three wishes. His ultimate ability, a faithful interpretation of his legendary origins, allows him to capture enemies and force them into a 1v1 duel.
Smite 2's Free-to-Play Open Beta: New Content Highlights
- 5 new gods (including Aladdin, Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr)
- The return of the beloved 3v3 Joust mode.
- A fresh Arthurian-themed map.
- Updates to the Conquest map.
- An alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- New optional god enhancements called Aspects.

Beyond Aladdin, the open beta expands the god roster with Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon). The popular Joust mode makes its return, offering a smaller, faster-paced 3v3 experience. The Conquest map and an alpha version of the Assault game mode are also included.
Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated that Smite 2 represents a significant improvement over its predecessor. The team expressed gratitude for the community feedback gathered during the closed alpha and promised ambitious new content for Smite 2 throughout 2025.
While available on most major platforms, Smite 2 is currently not available on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. For now, Smite fans can enjoy the open beta across other platforms.
