Team Ninja's 30th Anniversary: Big Plans on the Horizon
Team Ninja, the Koei Tecmo subsidiary renowned for its action-packed franchises like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, has hinted at significant projects to commemorate its 30th anniversary in 2025. Beyond these iconic series, the studio has also garnered success with soulslike RPGs such as the Nioh series and collaborations like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The recent release of Rise of the Ronin further solidified their position in the action RPG genre.
In a recent interview, Fumihiko Yasuda of Team Ninja alluded to upcoming releases "fitting for the occasion" of their anniversary. While details remain scarce, speculation centers on potential new installments in the Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden franchises. The statement itself promises exciting announcements and launches throughout 2025.
Team Ninja's 2025 Possibilities:
The anticipation is further fueled by the already announced Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a side-scrolling title unveiled at The Game Awards 2024. This new entry aims to recapture the spirit of the classic 8-bit era while incorporating modern elements. This follows the divisive 2014 release of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.
Meanwhile, Dead or Alive fans eagerly await a new mainline entry, the last being Dead or Alive 6 in 2019. Recent releases have been limited to spin-offs. The anniversary presents a prime opportunity for a significant return of this franchise. Similarly, a new Nioh installment is also a strong contender for a 2025 release. The anniversary celebration promises a year of exciting reveals and game releases from Team Ninja.
