Slaying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is exciting, but mastering the art of trapping is crucial for collecting all those valuable monster parts needed for crafting superior armor. This requires specific materials—Trap Tools—and knowing where to find them.

While Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide you on trapping or obtaining Trap Tools, experienced hunters will find the process familiar.
Your primary source for Trap Tools is the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Simply talk to him, browse his inventory, and purchase the Trap Tools for 200 Zenny each. Stocking up is highly recommended, especially if you're planning on farming specific monsters or aiming for a complete collection.
Currently, purchasing from the Base Camp is the only method to acquire Trap Tools; they cannot be found in the wild like other resources.
How to Use Trap Tools
With your Trap Tools acquired, it's time to put them to use. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to craft a Shock Trap.
Both trap types are effective, but remember that certain monsters are immune to specific traps. For example, Shock Traps are useless against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, making a Pitfall Trap the better choice in this scenario.
Keep in mind that you can only carry one trap at a time, so use them strategically when the monster is vulnerable.
