The much-anticipated sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, has encountered yet another delay, pushing its release to October 2025. This latest delay, though smaller than previous ones, was quietly announced in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room. This adjustment shifts the release from the previously planned first half of 2025 to later in the year. However, fans can take solace in the fact that the game is now complete.
“The status of the game right now is that the game is done,” stated Marco Behrmann, Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. “We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.”
Despite the frustration that comes with another delay, the accompanying video provides some encouraging news. The Chinese Room has enhanced the game with additional content, deeper narrative elements, and richer character development since the last major update. Moreover, players can look forward to an "evolved role" for Fabien in the storyline upon launch. However, updates will be less frequent moving forward, as indicated by a recent post on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
Even casual observers of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 are aware of the numerous setbacks this narrative-driven vampire game has faced over the past decade. Initially announced in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs with a planned Q1 2020 release, the game saw its first delay to late 2020. Subsequent delays pushed it to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit. In a significant development shift in 2023, Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after one more delay, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
While there's uncertainty about whether Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will successfully engage players this fall, The Chinese Room remains optimistic. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, a different team would take on the development of Bloodlines 3.
