The public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, giving players an early glimpse into the highly anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have shared that the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features slated for the 7.0 update, but they caution that the final notes might vary due to ongoing bug fixes.
Exclusively available to PC players, the PTS brings a wealth of new content and features. Update 7.0 introduces an exciting new PvE mission called Exfiltration, along with a powerful new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes. The update also introduces prestige ranks for PvE, private PvP lobbies, and a host of customization options that are sure to delight fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. New colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, as well as Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring, are now available. Additionally, PvP customization rewards have been increased by 50%. The PTS also features exclusive skins, including an Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes accompany the update, notably an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes to enjoy a broader selection of weapons. This includes the long-awaited ability for the Assault class to use the Power Sword without mods. Players are encouraged to review the detailed patch notes for a comprehensive understanding of the weapon adjustments.
A welcome gameplay improvement comes in the form of a new feature in the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay (with a notification 1:30 before and teleportation 15 seconds later). This change addresses the persistent issue of griefing where players could block progress by remaining outside the assembly area.
