Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series by letting fans vote on the next official merchandise items. A whopping 100 options are available, with the top two vote-getters slated for production and release within the next two years. The poll is currently only available in Japanese, but submissions can be made via the official website.
The merchandise options range from the expected (like a 20th-anniversary hoodie or pencil case) to the exceptionally bizarre, drawing heavily from the series' famously outlandish history.
Among the more unusual choices are Munan Suzuki's cult outfit from Yakuza 0, the giant traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other items include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
2025 will see at least one new game launch to mark the anniversary: Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean (sic) will be released on February 21st. While a second release is unconfirmed, RGG Studio's prolific output in recent years (nine games in the last five years, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, alongside other projects) suggests it's not entirely out of the question.
