In Hyper Light Breaker, choosing the right weapon is crucial for crafting an effective build. Every player starts with basic loadouts, but as you dive deeper into the game, you'll discover a variety of weapons that align perfectly with your preferred playstyle. This game blends elements of roguelikes and extraction games, offering a unique twist on how you can acquire new weapons.

Where to Get New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The primary method to obtain new gear is by exploring Overgrowths. During your runs, you'll naturally come across new items, but if you're specifically hunting for weapons, keep an eye out for the sword or pistol icons on the map. These icons mark the locations of Blades and Rails, respectively.

Blades, which are melee weapons, offer diverse movesets and special abilities, adding variety to your combat approach. On the other hand, Rails are ranged weapons with unique functions that distinguish each one. Both types of weapons can be found in different rarities, with gold being the rarest and typically boasting the best stats. Following the tradition of loot-based games, rarer items promise superior performance.

When you find a weapon in an Overgrowth, you have the option to send it directly to your personal stash by choosing the Cache button rather than Equip. This allows you to equip it for your next run by modifying your loadout before you set out again.

How to Get New Starting Weapons

In addition to acquiring new weapons during your runs, you can also purchase new starting gear from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, you'll only have access to the Blades merchant. To unlock the Rails merchant, you'll need to gather enough materials to repair their shop.

Keep in mind that merchants have a limited stock, but their inventory refreshes over time. If you don't see anything that catches your eye at first, be sure to check back later to see what new items are available.

How to Upgrade Weapons

To enhance your weapons, you can upgrade them at the merchants in the Outpost. However, you must first unlock the Upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a scarce resource found through exploration or by resetting cycles. Given their rarity, it's wise to use Golden Rations judiciously.

Be aware that if you die, the durability of your equipped gear will decrease by one pip, as indicated by the bar under their icons. Continuous deaths can lead to your gear breaking, so manage your equipment carefully.
