Ark 2, the highly anticipated dinosaur survival sequel, is back on track! Developer Studio Wildcard recently unveiled Ark: Lost Colony, a brand-new expansion for the Ark: Survival Ascended remake that serves as a crucial bridge to Ark 2.

This first original expansion pack for Ark: Survival Ascended boasts stunning visuals, courtesy of anime studio MAPPA (known for Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man), and features Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Mei Yin from Ark: The Animated Series. The reveal trailer showcases cinema-grade anime sequences, setting the stage for an epic adventure.

Studio Wildcard describes Ark: Lost Colony as a journey into a frozen world where players follow Mei Yin on a quest to uncover long-lost Ark secrets. Survivors will face new challenges in a vast occupied city, gaining access to powerful abilities, unique gear, innovative building systems, and exotic creatures to tame. The narrative directly connects the storylines of Ark’s Extinction and Genesis expansions, leading directly into the events of Ark 2.

Ark 2, the Unreal Engine 5-powered sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved, was initially announced in 2020 with a planned 2022 release. Subsequent delays pushed the release to late 2024, as an Xbox Series X|S console exclusive, launching day-one on Game Pass and simultaneously on PC via Steam and Windows.

While Ark 2’s release date remains unannounced, Ark: Lost Colony offers a concrete timeline. Pre-orders begin in June 2025, granting immediate access to exclusive preview gameplay. The full release is scheduled for November 2025, priced at $29.99 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
