Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announcement for Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game is fading into the background. Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator has announced its End of Service (EOS). Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have revealed that their RPG will soon be shutting down, but this only applies to the global version. Launched globally just over a year ago in January 2024, the game's performance was evidently not up to par. We'll delve into the reasons behind the EOS later.

It's worth noting that the Japanese version of the game is still flourishing with no plans to shut down anytime soon. Launched in September 2023, it's preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, which presents a striking irony considering the timing of the global version's EOS.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

The global version's EOS is scheduled for the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary, adding to the irony. The exact date is March 28th, 2025. While Japanese players enjoy Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding Chapter 21 (Part 1).

The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but players can still use their Lodestar Gems until the end. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events until the shutdown.

Adding another layer of irony, the global version celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th, 2025. A bittersweet milestone, as players must now prepare to bid farewell to the game.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have stated that after evaluating their ability to maintain the game at a satisfactory level for players, they've decided to close the global version. This decision reflects the game's struggle to make an impact among its audience.

Just a couple of months after its launch, the community voiced frustrations over the gacha system. While the main characters were well-received, the gameplay and monetization model couldn't sustain player interest, and the power creep became a significant issue.

These factors ultimately led to the announcement of the EOS for Atelier Resleriana's global version. If you're looking to bid a final farewell, you can find the game on the Google Play Store.
