Stun the Monster
One of the most challenging aspects of facing Ebony Odogaron in Monster Hunter Wilds is its incredible speed. To counter this, stunning the monster can give you a much-needed breather. You can find a Flashfly nearby to trigger a stun, or craft Flash Pods to shoot at the beast, effectively immobilizing it for a crucial moment.
Bring Teammates
Tackling Ebony Odogaron solo can be daunting, as you'll spend most of your time dodging its relentless attacks. The best strategy is to bring teammates. Use SOS signals to call for backup; if other players don't respond, NPCs can serve as helpful distractions. They can act as shields, allowing you to dodge until the monster shifts its focus away from you.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. By using your slinger to pull them down, you can stun the boss for several seconds. This tactic is a one-time use per fight, but you can also craft Pitfall and Shock Traps to immobilize the creature twice more.
Beware of Dragonblight
Besides its physical attacks, Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which won't harm you directly but will hinder your damage output by preventing elemental or status effect buildup. Use a Nulberry to counteract this effect, or equip a decoration with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance.
Inflict Paralysis
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will temporarily immobilize the monster, making the fight significantly easier. If you can knock it down while it's standing over roots, it might get further entangled, giving you more time to attack.
Aim for the Head
Ebony Odogaron's head is its most vulnerable spot, with a 3-star weakness. Attacking this area will deal the most damage, though it also puts you at risk. If you prefer to stay safer, target its forelegs and tail. While these parts won't yield as much damage, you might still manage to break its limbs.
