Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in *The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim*, *Fallout 3*, *Starfield*, and many other titles, has shared an emotional message during his recovery. Johnson was found "barely alive" in his hotel room last week, and a video uploaded to a GoFundMe page, which has raised over $174,653 for his medical expenses and bills, revealed he was in a coma.
"I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you," Johnson expressed in the video. The voice actor, also known for his work as the Washington Capitals announcer, was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. After he failed to appear at the event, his wife, Kim Johnson, called the hotel. Security and emergency medical technicians eventually entered his room and struggled to find a pulse.
"Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here," Johnson said. "I'm still here because my wife decided to call the hotel where I was staying, doing announcing for the Alzheimer's Association, and had my son call security, and find out I was nearly dead. They took me to the hospital, put me in a coma. I was in there for five days before I found out that my wonderful friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker and Kim had put together this GoFundMe, where I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you."
Johnson extended his gratitude to the National Alzheimer's Association for flying his family to see him and providing accommodations, to Ted Leonsis, chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company, for donating $25,000, and to his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker. He also acknowledged Bethesda's support on social media after news of his illness broke. "You say that I'm your friend. I am," he said. "Always will be. Love you guys." Additionally, Johnson thanked his fans, both those who donated and those who offered support in other ways. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he affirmed.
"It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."
Johnson's extensive career spans numerous film and television roles, but his video game work is predominantly with Bethesda. He most recently voiced Ron Hope in *Starfield*, and has portrayed iconic characters such as the Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in *The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion*, three Daedric Princes (Boethiah, Malacath, and Molag Bal) in *The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind*, Fawkes and Maister Burke in *Fallout 3*, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in *Skyrim*, and Moe Cronin in *Fallout 4*, among others.
