Clash Royale heads back to the past with new (yet old) Retro Royale mode

Author : Samuel Update:Mar 27,2025

Supercell is taking fans of Clash Royale on a nostalgic journey back to 2017 with the introduction of the new Retro Royale Mode. This exciting update, available from March 12th to the 26th, brings back the game's launch meta and a limited pool of 80 cards, offering players a chance to relive the early days of the game while competing for exclusive rewards.

As you climb the 30-step Retro Ladder, you'll have the opportunity to earn Gold and Season Tokens, making each step up the ladder increasingly rewarding. The competition intensifies as you progress, and upon reaching the Competitive League, your starting rank will be determined by your progress on the Tropy Road. From there, it's all about showcasing your skills and climbing the leaderboard based on your Retro Royale performance.

It's fascinating to see Supercell, a company known for keeping their games fresh, introduce a mode that celebrates the past. While it might seem counterintuitive, there's a clear distinction between feeling dated and embracing nostalgia. With the enticing rewards on offer, it's hard to imagine fans not wanting to dive in and experience the Retro Royale Mode.

And there's more! By competing in both the Retro Ladder and the Competitive League at least once, you'll earn a special badge for each, adding an extra layer of achievement to your nostalgic journey.
