How to Unlock Caldarus Events Gift Preferences

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To start your romantic journey with Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you'll need to venture to Floor 60 of the mines and break the Fire Seal. To do this, you must offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once you've completed the offering, a dramatic cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or face being sealed alongside the scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus heroically appears, transforming into his human form and bestowing upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods.

With Caldarus now in his human guise, you can engage in daily conversations and present him with gifts, similar to interactions with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria. After breaking the Fire Seal, locate Caldarus at his temple in the Deep Woods. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock this area permanently on your map.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

Upon unlocking Caldarus in the March 2025 update, he starts with a heart level of six, which is the current cap. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events available for Caldarus at this time, but more are expected in future updates. Currently, you can experience two key cutscenes with him: a dream sequence that introduces the game's magic system and mechanics, and another where Caldarus rescues the farmer after breaking the Fire Seal, revealing his human form and retreating to recover.

Following the update, you can also embark on a real date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria and offers a chance to take a romanceable NPC with at least four hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Given Caldarus' initial heart level of six, you're set to attend with him. To make it happen, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28, then meet him after that time to start the event. During your date at the Summit, Caldarus will express gratitude for the invitation, discuss the stars and Mistrian traditions like Starbinding, and delve into deep conversations about soul connections and life's narratives. The evening concludes with an invitation to watch the stars from his temple.
