"Cujo Gets a Modern Twist in Netflix's New Adaptation"

Author : Matthew Update:Apr 05,2025

In the latest wave of Stephen King adaptations, fans are in for another thrilling ride as Netflix gears up to produce a new film version of the iconic novel "Cujo." According to Deadline, Vertigo Entertainment's founder and producer Roy Lee is set to helm the project. However, the film is still in its early stages, with no writers, directors, or cast members attached yet.

Originally published in 1981, "Cujo" was swiftly adapted into a cult classic horror film in 1983, directed by Lewis Teague and penned by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner. The gripping tale centers on a determined mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who finds herself trapped in a car with her young son as they are stalked by Cujo, a once-friendly dog turned deadly after being bitten by a rabid bat. The duo must battle not only the relentless canine but also the looming threat of heatstroke as their car's engine fails.

Additionally, the "IT" prequel series "Welcome to Derry" is set to premiere on HBO, and the iconic "Carrie" is being reimagined as an eight-episode series on Prime Video, directed by horror maestro Mike Flanagan.
