Get ready, Marvel Rivals fans! Season 2 is bringing exciting changes, focusing on revamped team-up skills and brand-new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man. Let's dive into what NetEase has planned.
Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals
New Team-Up Skills and Adjustments
Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen revealed significant changes to team-up skills in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14th. He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. This, along with overall balance adjustments, will create a fresh combat experience."
Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills—examples include Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. Balancing these skills with the growing roster will be a significant challenge for NetEase.
Hero Balancing
Chen also addressed the ongoing challenge of balancing heroes as the roster expands. He explained their process: "We closely monitor key metrics across Quick Match and Competitive Modes, analyzing win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, and more. This data, combined with analysis of hero lineup compositions and community feedback, guides our balancing decisions."
With a new hero planned for each half of the three-month seasons (eight heroes annually), maintaining balance will be an ongoing task. Chen confirmed that Season 2 content is ready, with Seasons 3 and 4 already in development, reaffirming NetEase's commitment to the game's long-term support (10+ years).
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th
NetEase announced via Twitter (X) on March 18th the arrival of new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC. Spider-Man gets a futuristic "Spider-Punk 2099" skin, complete with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar. These skins, previously seen in the closed beta, join Loki's Presidential attire in making the transition to the live game. While the release date is set, pricing details remain undisclosed.
As Season 1 concludes, NetEase is preparing for a significant Season 2 update. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates!
