Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Eleanor Update:Apr 05,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the ongoing challenges fans face in securing the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company has confirmed that reprints are on the horizon and that they are diligently working to ensure more products reach fans.

The launch of the newest set, Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals, was marred by product shortages, pre-order complications, and the persistent issue of scalpers. This set, along with others like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, has been in high demand, making them exceedingly difficult to obtain.

In their statement on the official Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that "some fans are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability."

They further explained, "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this. Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

The company also committed to "maximizing production" for upcoming TCG expansions to enhance product availability from the outset and promised to "continue to reprint impacted products" to restock inventory, including at the Pokémon Center.

In addressing the scalping issue indirectly, The Pokémon Company stated that for Pokémon Center releases, it is "committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." They currently utilize a virtual queue system for some products during peak traffic times.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company assured. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances from The Pokémon Company, fans can hopefully look forward to a smoother and less stressful experience when it comes to collecting and enjoying the Pokémon TCG with the arrival of new sets.
