Hazelight's beloved cooperative adventure game Split Fiction has reached nearly four million copies sold, marking a major milestone for the innovative title.
Publisher EA announced the achievement in its latest earnings report, describing the game as a "phenomenal launch success" and highlighting its contribution to the company's strong performance in fiscal year 2025.
"4 MILLION COPIES SOLD!!!!" Hazelight excitedly shared on social media following the announcement. "We're overwhelmed by how many players have already embraced Split Fiction...
"Watching the joy you're experiencing with our game and the affection you've shown for Mio, Zoe and their relationship truly touches our team's hearts. And we can't believe how many virtual hot dogs have been consumed!"
Split Fiction immerses players in the imaginative worlds of two creative writers through its groundbreaking cooperative gameplay that allows two players to experience the story together even with just one game copy. Despite launching only in March, the game has become another success story for Hazelight and creative director Josef Fares, having already surpassed 2 million sales within its first week. The title is also confirmed as a launch title for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, while Hazelight begins development on their next project.
The franchise is expanding beyond gaming, with a film adaptation currently in development. Story Kitchen, the production company behind the successful Sonic movie adaptations, is reportedly assembling a creative team including writers, director, and a cast featuring Sydney Sweeney.
In our review, we praised Split Fiction as "a masterfully designed cooperative journey that seamlessly blends multiple genres," noting in our IGN Split Fiction review that it "constantly reinvents itself with a rapid-fire succession of gameplay mechanics and styles that maintain an exhilarating sense of novelty throughout its 14-hour campaign."
