Star Wars: Hunters, despite not even reaching its first birthday, is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary before its servers officially shut down. But is there any real reason to celebrate the demise of a game?
When Are the Star Wars: Hunters Servers Shutting Down?
The game's servers will power down on October 1st, 2025, a mere nine months after its initial launch. Players will have a few extra weeks to complete Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.
Developer and publisher Zynga will release one final content update on April 15th, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers close, and seasonal events will be rerun. Players are advised to spend any remaining Crystals before the shutdown, as no refunds will be offered.
A Predictable End?
While unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters shouldn't come as a complete surprise. The game's troubled journey began with multiple delays after its 2020 announcement, with beta testing limited to SEA and ANZAC regions.
A delayed launch, lack of major console support, and a generally lukewarm reception all contributed to the game's demise. Even the game's design choices seem questionable; the decision to feature generic original characters instead of iconic Star Wars legends appears to have been a missed opportunity.
If you're feeling nostalgic or want one last hurrah, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
