System Shock 2 Remaster: 25th Anniversary Details Unveiled

Nightdive Studios has thrilled fans by announcing that the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will launch on June 26, 2025. This modernized version of the iconic 1999 sci-fi horror action role-playing game is set to hit both PC and consoles for the first time. Gamers can look forward to playing it on Windows PC via Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the Humble Bundle Store, as well as on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.

Using their proprietary KEX Engine, Nightdive Studios has completely rebuilt System Shock 2 for today's platforms. This remaster boasts enhanced visuals, improved gameplay, better performance, cross-play co-op multiplayer, and mod support, among other contemporary gaming features.

Here’s the official synopsis for System Shock 2:

Set 42 years after the events of the first System Shock, the malevolent AI SHODAN and her army of ruthless mutants have taken over the starship Von Braun. Players take on the role of a soldier who awakens from cryo-sleep with cybernetic enhancements. As he explores the eerie ship to uncover its terrifying secrets, he must enhance his skills, wield powerful weapons, and harness paranormal psionic abilities to combat SHODAN’s monstrous creations and confront her god-like ambitions.
