Development of Crysis 4 Temporarily Paused Due to Financial Difficulties

Crytek has announced a restructuring that includes approximately 60 layoffs, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce. This follows financial challenges faced by the company.

Simultaneously, Crytek revealed that development of the next Crysis game has been temporarily paused, a decision made in the third quarter of 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.

While Crytek explored reassigning staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis title, this proved infeasible despite cost-cutting measures. Layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans prioritize expanding content for Hunt: Showdown 1896, while the new Crysis game is indefinitely delayed. Affected employees will receive severance packages and career transition support.

Despite the challenges, Crytek remains positive about its long-term prospects, focusing on Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the continued development of its CRYENGINE technology.
