Assassin's Creed: Shadows Unveils Character Progression and Equipment Details
Ubisoft's latest article highlights the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, focusing on the progression systems and equipment for the playable characters, Yasuke and Naoe. A key feature is a significant upgrade to the iconic Hidden Blade.
Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their combat style. Yasuke, a samurai, specializes in powerful melee techniques, while Naoe, a shinobi, excels in stealth and agility. Skill points, earned by completing objectives and defeating challenging foes (like Daisyo samurai), unlock new weapon abilities and refine combat styles. A balanced progression system ensures neither character falls significantly behind the other. Unlocking advanced abilities often requires specific actions, such as investigating a shadowy shinobi clan. Further upgrades are tied to the "Knowledge" system, progressing through manuscript study and shrine visits. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.
The game features a robust equipment system with five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded and visually customized at a blacksmith. Armor and weapon perks can dramatically alter gameplay.
The Hidden Blade returns with its signature one-hit kill capability, making it the ultimate assassination tool.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
