Behind-The-Scenes Of Infinity Nikki

A Sneak Peek Into Miraland

Mark your calendars for December 4th (EST/PST) as the much-awaited fashion-centered open-world game, Infinity Nikki, is set to launch. A 25-minute documentary has been released, celebrating the extensive work and passion that went into the game's creation. Through interviews with core team members, viewers get a glimpse into the dedication that fueled the project.

The journey of Infinity Nikki started in December 2019 when the Nikki series' producer approached Chief Technology Officer Fei Ge with the vision of developing an open-world game where Nikki could freely explore and embark on adventures. The project was initially kept under wraps, with the team working in a separate office to maintain secrecy. "We gradually began recruiting and assembling our initial team, working on ideas, laying the foundation, and building the infrastructure. We continued in this way for over a year," explained Fei Ge.

Game designer Sha Dingyu highlighted the unprecedented challenge of integrating the Nikki IP's dress-up game mechanics into an open-world concept. "It was a challenging process, creating a framework from scratch and step by step after years of research," he noted. Despite the hurdles, the entire team was committed to turning this vision into reality.

The Nikki franchise, which started with NikkuUp2U in 2012, has seen multiple mobile game releases. Infinity Nikki marks the fifth installment and the first to be available on PC and console alongside mobile. Fei Ge emphasized that the team could have opted for another mobile-only game, but their dedication to a "technological and product upgrade" drove them to push the boundaries of the Nikki IP. The producer's passion was so evident that he even sculpted a miniature model of the Grand Millewish Tree out of clay, symbolizing their commitment to the project.

The documentary also showcases the beautiful landscapes of Miraland, where players will explore. The Grand Millewish Tree, home to the enchanting Faewish Sprites, is a central feature. The game's world is filled with life, with NPCs engaging in daily routines that add depth and realism to the environment. Game designer Xiao Li noted that even during Nikki's missions, the NPCs maintain their routines, enhancing the liveliness of the world.

A Star-Studded Cast

In addition to the core Nikki series team, Infinity Nikki has enlisted experienced professionals from around the world. The Lead Sub Director, Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, previously worked on the acclaimed Nintendo Switch title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The team also includes concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, known for his work on the critically-acclaimed The Witcher 3.

Since the official start of development on December 28th, 2019, the team has worked tirelessly for 1814 days leading up to the grand launch on December 4th, 2024. Excitement is building as the release date approaches. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through Miraland with Nikki and her loyal companion, Momo, this December!
