inZOI Director Teases a Karma System
On February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim shared exciting news on Discord about a new Karma system. This innovative feature will allow deceased Zois to transform into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.
While inZOI focuses on realism, Kim is excited to introduce a paranormal element through the Karma system. "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife. Those who don’t make the cut remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points," Kim explained. However, the specific actions needed to restore Karma points remain undisclosed.
Kim also highlighted the balance they aim to achieve with ghost Zois. "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited so it doesn’t overshadow the main gameplay, but we also want to make sure the experience is engaging when it does happen." In the Early Access version, players can engage in special conversations with ghost Zois at specific times under certain conditions.
Kim expressed enthusiasm for future developments, stating, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of life!"
inZOI Karma Interaction Briefly Revealed
In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with various content creators to showcase the game. MadMorph, one of the partners, provided a sneak peek into the Karma system during his video.
At the 15-minute mark, MadMorph demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions, showcasing a variety of actions that can either increase or decrease Karma points. One humorous example included his character secretly farting on another Zoi's face, which triggered a reaction from the NPC. Positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" were also available, though not demonstrated in the video.
While the Early Access version, set to release on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus on gameplay with living Zois, Kim assured that the Karma Interactions will play a larger role in future updates. Players eager to explore inZOI will have just under six weeks to wait for this exciting Early Access launch.
