Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

In a recent interview, Hashino, a visionary in the gaming world, expressed his interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He believes this historical era would provide an ideal setting for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the dynamic and action-packed Basara series. This idea showcases Hashino's ambition to explore new narratives and gameplay mechanics within the rich tapestry of Japanese history.

When discussing Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino made it clear that there are currently no concrete plans to turn it into a series. However, his dedication to the project is unwavering, as he aims to see it through to completion. Originally, Metaphor: ReFantazio was envisioned as the third major Japanese role-playing game series, alongside the acclaimed Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. Hashino's ultimate goal is for this project to become the cornerstone of the company's future endeavors.

Despite earlier statements that there are no plans for a sequel to Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino revealed that the team is already moving forward with their next project, which is unlikely to be a direct follow-up. On a different note, there are exciting discussions about an anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio. This game has not only captured the hearts of gamers but has also achieved unprecedented success for Atlus, marking their most successful platform launch to date.

The concurrent player count for Metaphor: ReFantazio has soared to an impressive 85,961, significantly outpacing the numbers for Persona 5 Royal, which reached 35,474 players, and Persona 3 Reload, with 45,002 players. The game is available across multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, ensuring that a wide audience can experience its innovative gameplay and compelling story.
