The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again involved numerous revisions, yet surprisingly, one episode remained completely unchanged: Episode 5 – which, ironically, happens to be lead actor Charlie Cox's least favorite of the entire season.
"I don't know if this is interesting, but I'll share that among all the changes, this was the one episode we didn't alter at all," Cox revealed during a recent conversation with The Playlist.
"It's the bank heist episode, which we filmed before the strike as part of the original version. Personally, it didn't resonate with me."
The actor admitted to the publication that he "resisted this episode as much as I reasonably could." The installment in question follows Matt Murdock (Daredevil's civilian identity) as he becomes entangled in a bank robbery while attempting to secure financing for his law firm alongside partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"The concept felt outdated to me," Cox explained regarding his objections. "Modern technology makes the scenario unrealistic, and honestly, the robbery mechanics seemed implausibly simplistic."

Despite his personal reservations, Cox acknowledged that audiences responded enthusiastically to the episode.
"I strongly opposed this episode creatively, yet countless fans tell me it's their favorite. It's fascinating how subjective storytelling can be," Cox reflected. "Different people connect with different things. Professionally speaking, I've heard it ranks among Disney+'s highest-rated Marvel episodes."
The critical reception supports this assessment. In our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 Review, we praised: "The execution is masterful – arguably the most joyfully engaging Marvel Studios episode in recent memory, maintaining perfect tension throughout. Most impressively, it captures Matt Murdock's unique heroism beautifully, even without the iconic costume."
