Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic storytelling, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy aims to establish itself as a leading European developer of narrative-driven games, according to Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley.
Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this aspiration shaped Quantum Break and, significantly, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog."
This influence is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and gripping narrative. The game's success has cemented Remedy's position as a top European studio.
Remedy's vision extends beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of single-player cinematic experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us franchise (considered one of history's most awarded), serves as a benchmark.
Alan Wake 2, released over a year ago, continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. A recent update notably optimizes the game for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines aspects of the Performance and Quality modes.
These refinements include minor graphical adjustments for smoother framerates and reduced image noise. In addition to PS5 Pro enhancements, the update addresses minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
